International Study Guides

Church leaders need to be equipped, not only to preach, but to lead whole communities through the enormous challenges of severe poverty or conflict. The Books for Life International Study Guides (ISGs) scheme speaks directly to the need of Church leaders in poor countries for education that supports their vocations.

Through the ISGs, we provide these leaders with essential tools for their future ministry and encourage young theologians to develop their understanding of their faith in the context of the communities they serve.

Students preparing for ordained ministry choose a set of 15 International Study Guides*. Topics range from general gospel guides to indigenous theology, to issues around HIV/AIDS or the environment.

The books are published in English and are written in an accessible style for students whose home language may not be English.

Students can keep their books when they graduate, helping them to establish a modest personal library.

In the last five years, Books for Life has supported more than 13,000 theological students around the world with International Study Guides.
